‘SVANidhi se Samriddhi’ Program

  • As an additional scheme of Prime Minister's SVANidhi, the first phase of 'SVANidhi Se Samriddhi' scheme was launched for 125 cities on 4 January 2021. Under the scheme, about 35 lakh street vendors and their families were covered. The objective of this scheme is to provide loans to street vendors as well as their overall development and economic upliftment.
  • In view of the success of the first phase of 'SVANidhi Se Samriddhi' scheme, this scheme has been expanded to 126 additional cities of the country for the FY 2022-23 with an aim to cover 28 lakh street vendors and their families. The remaining cities will be gradually linked to this scheme.
  • It is known that on June 1, 2020, a scheme named 'Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi)' has been started by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to provide financial support to small shopkeepers and hawkers.
