Under the Tourist Police Scheme, a pool of trained policemen will be provided to provide police services to tourists and it will control crimes at tourist places.
It is proposed to keep the ratio of male and female policemen in tourist police force 50:50 and deputation of policemen.
Tourist police will be subject to the rules of the district police of the respective state, unless it is contrary to the rules of the scheme.
Tourist Police Station will function under the jurisdiction of District Police (Superintendent of Police) for all policing purposes.
A national conference on this scheme was organized in New Delhi in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Home Affairs.
