India has announced the MIIRA (Millet International Initiative for Research and Awareness: MIIRA) initiative to promote the consumption and production of millets.
It aims to link millets research organizations around the world, supporting research related to millets.
India will contribute 'seed money' for this initiative, while each G-20 member will have to contribute towards it in the form of membership fee.
The draft charter related to this will be placed for approval in the first meeting of G-20 agriculture representatives held in Indore. Its secretariat will be located in Delhi.
