One Ocean Summit

  • 'One Ocean Summit' was organized in collaboration with the United Nations and the World Bank in Brest, France from 9 to 11 February.
  • The main objective of this conference is to unite the international community towards the conservation and support of healthy and inclusive marine ecosystems and emphasis on better implementation of international laws for the maritime system.
  • Several important initiatives were launched on this occasion for marine ecosystem conservation and sustainable fisheries, which aims to reduce the adverse effects of plastic pollution and climate change.
  • Heads of states of many countries including India, Germany, United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Canada participated in this conference.
  • IOC-UNESCO and the French government are coordinating scientific programs in this.
