Angola joins International Solar Alliance(ISA)

Why in news?

• Angola recently became the 123rd member of the International Solar Alliance.

About International Solar Alliance (ISA):

• Announced: Jointly by India and France at the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) on 30 November 2015.
• Entered into force: 6 December 2017
• Headquarters: Gurugram, Haryana, India
• Important day: The Framework Agreement of ISA came into force from 6 December 2017 after being ratified by 15 countries.

Membership:

• Number of member countries: 123 (Angola)
• Only countries that are fully or partially located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn can become members (although other countries can also join from 2018).
