Why in the news?

• The second edition of India MedTech Expo 2025 is being held today, Thursday, in New Delhi.
• This three-day expo is organized to showcase the country’s MedTech capabilities and innovations.

Exhibition and Participation:

• The expo will include MSMEs, startups, research institutes, the Future Innovation Pavilion, state-level exhibitions, and government initiatives.
• More than 150 international buyers from over 30 countries will participate.
• The event provides global stakeholders with a unique platform to explore partnerships and investment opportunities in India’s rapidly growing MedTech ecosystem.

Purpose and Significance:

According to Praveen Kumar Mittal, Executive Director of the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices:

• India’s medical devices sector has reached a market size of approximately USD 15 billion and is projected to reach USD 30 billion by 2030.
• India has more than 800 MedTech startups, strong research and development capabilities, and a rapidly expanding manufacturing base.
• India is positioning itself as a global hub for innovation and exports.
• The India MedTech Expo acts as a catalyst to showcase this growth story and enable collaborations that could transform healthcare access in India and worldwide.
