- National Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) Conclave-2025 was organized on 12 September 2025 in New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel.

- Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) – It is the apex organization for medical and health research in India.
- VRDL Network – This network operates virus research and diagnostic facilities across the country and contributes significantly to epidemic management.

Role of National Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL)

- These labs have made significant contributions in the field of rapid testing, infection identification and research in many health crises including COVID-19.
New Initiative: IVD Validation Portal
- The In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Validation Portal and Validation Protocols were also launched during the conclave.
- This portal will help in making health tests and technologies fast, transparent and industry-friendly.
- New tests and technologies will be made available quickly and safely through the portal.
- This platform will ensure better coordination between industry, research and regulatory bodies.
India's Health Research System
- India is building a strong, self-reliant and globally relevant health research system.
- For the first time, 13 ministries and departments are working together under the National One Health Mission.
- This coordinated effort sets an example for health security not only in India but also globally.
- India is now playing a leading role in early identification of infections, indigenous test validation and development of new technologies.
