Parakram Diwas-2025

Why in News?

Parakram Diwas-2025 will be celebrated to honour the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary.
Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the event on January 23, 2025 at Cuttack, the birthplace of Netaji.
The event will begin with paying tribute to Netaji and hoisting the national flag at the house where Netaji was born.
It has now been converted into a museum dedicated to him.

About Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose:

Netaji was born on January 23, 1897 in Cuttack, Odisha.
He was educated at Presidency College and Scottish Church College, Kolkata.
He took an active part in the Indian National Congress and became its President in 1938 and 1939.
In 1939, he separated from the Congress and founded an organization called "Forward Block".
With the cooperation of Japan and Germany, he formed the "Azad Hind Fauj" and gave the slogan "Delhi Chalo".
His famous slogan was, “Give Me Blood, and I Promise You Freedom”, which became a source of inspiration in the freedom struggle.
The slogan "Jai Hind" is also related to him, which became the national slogan of India.
On 18 August 1945, the news of his death came in a plane crash.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birth anniversary is celebrated every year on 23 January.
From the year 2021, the Government of India decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as 'Parakram Diwas'.
This decision is dedicated to his indomitable courage, patriotism and his important contribution in the freedom struggle.
The first Parakram Diwas was celebrated in the year 2021 on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji.
