SHISTHACHAR SQUAD

Why in the News?

• Delhi Police has launched SHISTHACHAR SQUADS in all districts to enhance public safety of women.
  • Delhi Police has taken this step to curb crimes against women.

Key points of SHISTHACHAR SQUAD:

• Objective: To prevent eve-teasing and harassment against women.
• Formation: A special squad led by ACP of Crime against Women (CAW) cell in each district.
• Members: Each squad will have 1 Inspector, 1 Sub-Inspector, 4 female officers, 5 male officers and 1 technical expert.
• Operations: Patrolling in sensitive areas, surprise checks in public transport and surveillance in plain clothes.
• Transportation: Each squad will be given 1 four-wheeler and multiple two-wheelers.
• Identification of sensitive areas: List compiled by District DCP and report to SPUWAC.
