UAE University created advanced non-surgical blood flow monitor
Why in news?
Researchers at the United Arab Emirates University have created an advanced technology for monitoring blood flow without surgery using piezoelectric pressure sensors.
About Non-Surgical Blood Flow Monitor:
Non-surgical blood flow monitor is a device that has the ability to measure and monitor blood flow inside the body without any incision.
Features:
Non-invasive technology:
No surgery or insertion of equipment inside the body is required.
Advanced sensor based system:
Use of materials (eg: piezoelectric materials) that generate electric fields on mechanical stress.
This technology can measure the speed, viscosity and direction of blood flow.
Real-time monitoring:
Helpful in detecting problems like blood clots in time.
Accurate and cost-effective:
More accurate, and low-cost system compared to traditional technologies.
Clinical and home use:
Suitable for patient care in hospitals and for health monitoring at home.
Development and research:
Scientists at UAE University have recently successfully developed this technology.
The project was led by Professor Mahmoud Al Ahmad and trained 4 graduate students in the research.
Future prospects:
Equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), it will be made more accurate and automated.
This technology encourages indigenous innovation in the healthcare sector and reduces dependence on imports.
