Manasbal Lake

  • Manasbal Lake is located in the Jhelum Valley in the north of Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The name is believed to be derived from Mansarovar Lake.
  • It is the deepest lake in India. Lotus is found in abundance in this lake. The roots of these plants are marketed for food use.
  • The Mughal garden Jharokha built by Nur Jahan is also located here. This lake is also known as 'Bird's Paradise'.
  • After 33 years, this lake has been opened again for the training of cadets of National Cadet Corps.
