‘Prism' is short for ‘Promoting Innovations in Individuals, Start-ups and MSMEs’. It is an initiative of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) to promote innovation.
It is aimed at transforming an individual innovators into a successful technopreneur by encouraging, supporting and funding implementable and commercially viable innovations created for society.
Under the initiative, Indian students, professionals and common citizens is provided technical, strategic and financial assistance by DSIR to enhance conceptual development, prototype development, pilot scaling (a preliminary study on a small scale), and patenting. Under this, the grant is given in two phases.
The program is implemented across various sectors from energy, healthcare, green technology to clean energy, waste management and others. The Ministry of Science and Technology has inaugurated an awareness Event for the publicity of the DSIR-PRISM Scheme.
