- He studied law in England and returned to India to practice law while actively engaging in politics.
- In 1925, he became the first Indian Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly.
- He conducted the Assembly impartially and democratically, resisting pressure from British officials.
- He was associated with the Swaraj Party and worked internationally to garner support for India’s independence.
- He passed away on 22 October 1933 in Geneva, Switzerland, and dedicated his property to the freedom movement.
