Introduction:
International Theatre Day is celebrated every year on 27 March.
It was started in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI).
The first World Theatre Day was celebrated on 27 March 1962.
The purpose of this day is to highlight the importance of theatre and encourage artists.
Objectives:
To promote theatre as a powerful art medium.
To honour theatre artists and inspire the new generation.
To bring cultural diversity and the global theatre community on one platform.
World Theatre Message:
Every year a famous theatre artist gives the "World Theatre Message".
In this, views are shared on the role of theatre in society and its relevance.
Events of this day
Special theatrical presentations, workshops and seminars are organised.
Theatre lovers also promote it through social media.
Theatre:
Theatre is the art of expressing emotions through acting, dialogue, music and dance.
It is not only entertainment but also an effective means of social awareness.
The rich tradition of Indian theatre has been going on since ancient times.
It has developed from Sanskrit plays to modern theatre.
Playwrights like Girish Karnad, Habib Tanvir, Vijay Tendulkar and Mohan Rakesh have contributed significantly to it.
Theatre is maintaining its identity even in the digital age.
This art inspires us to think, understand and bring change in the society.
