100th country to join International Solar Alliance

  • Paraguay became the 100th country to join the International Solar Alliance.
  • This alliance was established with the joint efforts of India and France.
  • It was established during the 21st conference of the UNFCCC.
    • This conference was held in Paris in the year 2015.
  • Its objective:
    • To reduce dependence on fossil fuels
    • To ensure energy security in member countries
    • To promote solar energy technologies
    • Its headquarters is located in Gurugram (Haryana), India.
