Barda Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Barda Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Porbandar district of Gujarat. It was given the status of a sanctuary in the year 1979. It is also a major abode of the Maldhari community of Gujarat.
  • Two major rivers Bileshwari and Jogri flow through this sanctuary, along with two dams Khambala and Fodara add to natural beauty it.
  • It has southern tropical forests, southern dry mixed deciduous forests and northern tropical thorn forests along with important fauna blue bull, chinkara, blackbuck etc. are found.
  • The Gujarat government plans to relocate 40 lions from Gir National Park to Barda Wildlife Sanctuary in the state.
