Black Palm Cockatoo

  • Palm Cockatoo is a species of brown or black parrot.
  • Endemic species : New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula.
  • Physical characteristics : Big black beak and crest, light yellow coloured wings and red spots on the cheeks.
  • Diet : Eats leaf buds, fruits and seeds as well as insects and their larvae.
  • IUCN Status : Least Concern (LC)
  • Palm Cockatoo smuggling problem near Assam-Mizoram border.
