Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Changthang plateau in Leh district of Ladakh.
  • This sanctuary extends to Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri and Tso Kar Lake. The Korzok Monastery located in this sanctuary is a major tourist attraction.
  • It is home to important species like the rare snow leopard, black-necked stork and kiang or wild ass.
  • The Wildlife Board has approved the installation of a mountain radar of the Indian Air Force in this sanctuary.
