Chashma-V Nuclear Power Plant

  • China has signed an agreement to set up a 1,200 MW Chashma-V nuclear power plant at Chashma in Pakistan's Mianwali district.
  • It is a commercial nuclear power plant which is under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitoring and safeguards.
  • In November 2006, the International Atomic Energy Agency approved the construction of new nuclear power plants in Pakistan with the help of China to meet the increasing demands of energy.
