  • Petroleum Minister Hardeep S. Puri launched this fuel.
  • It is a clean and green alternative to petrol.
  • Its mixture includes-
    • 92-94% ethanol
    • 4-5% motor spirit
    • 1.5% co-solvent higher saturated alcohol
  • The CO2 emitted during its combustion is almost equal to the CO2 absorbed during the growth of crops.
  • Ethanol:
    • It is a bio-fuel.
    • It is prepared from maize, sugarcane, wheat etc.
    • It is produced through fermentation process.
