Galette

  • Galette is a type of mud cake made in the African country Haiti by mixing a special type of clay with salt, margarine and water.
  • The local people believe that this clay is rich in minerals and medicinal properties, so pregnant women are consuming these cakes to get more calcium.
  • Soil-based food production is a major income earner in Haiti as well as the only anti-inflationary food available to the poor.
