The Great Knot is an international wader migratory bird with short black legs and a slender black bill of medium length.
It is an endemic species found at the estuary of the Hairasova-Belogolovaya River in the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia.
It has black spots on its face and throat and stripes on its back. It is listed as Endangered (EN) in the IUCN Red List.
These long-distance migratory birds migrate to the Yellow Sea region and Thailand in Southeast Asia before entering peninsular India through the Central Asian flight route. Recently, it has been seen in Thrissur, Kerala.
