International Day of the Girl

  • It is celebrated every year on 11 October.
  • It is a global platform for advocating girls' rights.
  • The Government of Canada proposed to celebrate it in the 55th UN General Assembly.
  • The United Nations passed this resolution in December 2011.
  • Celebrating this day started from the year 2012.
  • The theme of 2023 is  “Investing in girls’ rights: Our leadership, our well-being”
