Kozhikode declared 'City of Literature'

  • UNESCO declared Kozhikode as India's first 'City of Literature'.
    • In the year 2023, Kozhikode was included in the 'Literature' category of 'UNESCO Creative Cities Network'.
  • Kozhikode is a city in Kerala.
    • This city was earlier called Calicut.
    • It is a permanent venue for the annual 'Kerala Literature Festival'.

    • Appu Nedungadi's novel 'Kundalata' was published from here.
    • It is the first Malayalam novel.
