Manamadurai Pottery

  • Manamadurai Pottery is a pottery art from the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu which was recently granted Geographical Indication (GI).
  • Soil and water are the main raw materials for making these pots. The sand collected from different places is dried for two days to separate the larger particles.
  • The Vaigai river enriches the clay used for the Manamadurai pottery. To improve the quality of the pots, lead and graphite are added to it.
