MISHTI Scheme

  • MISHTI scheme has been announced by the Union Finance Minister in the year 2023 budget.
  • It aims to facilitate mangrove plantation on saline lands along the sea coast of India.
  • The scheme will be implemented through convergence between MNREGA, CAMPA funds and other sources.
  • Mangroves are tolerant of salt water and capable of sequestering four times more carbon than tropical rainforests.
