People's Biodiversity Register serves as a comprehensive record of various aspects of biodiversity.
It includes conservation of habitats and landscape, community diversity, agriculture, domesticated stock, animal breeds, micro-organisms and accumulation of knowledge related to biological diversity of the region.
According to the Bio-diversity Act, 2002, Bio-diversity Management Committees constituted by local bodies across the country prepares People's Bio-diversity Registers in consultation with local communities to promote the conservation, sustainable use and documentation of biodiversity.
A national campaign has been launched in Goa to update and verify the People's Biodiversity Register.
