Adi Sanskriti Digital Learning Platform: A Digital University for Tribal Heritage
Why in news ?
On 10 September 2025, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched Adi Sanskriti (Beta Version) during the National Conference – Adi Karmyogi Abhiyan at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The initiative was inaugurated by State Minister Shri Durgadas Uike. It is considered the world’s first digital university dedicated to tribal culture.
Objective of the Initiative
The initiative aims not only to preserve tribal traditions but also to connect tribal artisans with global markets to ensure sustainable livelihoods.
Three Pillars of Adi Sanskriti
Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Adi University)
45 digital courses on dance, music, painting, handicrafts, and folk tales
Offers students worldwide an online experience of tribal traditions
Adi Sampada (Adi Heritage)
5,000+ digital documents
Five themes: dance, painting, textiles, artifacts, and livelihood
Acts as a digital archive of India’s tribal heritage
Adi Haat
Initially linked with TRIFED, with plans to become an independent e-marketplace
Provides consumers direct access to tribal artisans’ products
Ensures sustainable income and market access for artisans
Partnership with Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs)
The initiative operates in collaboration with state-level TRIs to maintain authenticity and local participation.
First phase involved 15 states: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, etc.
These states contributed digitalization and documentation of tribal art forms.
