India celebrates Teachers’ Day every year on 5 September to honour teachers and recognise their contribution to education, society and nation-building. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, one of India’s most distinguished philosophers, educationists and statesmen, who later became the first Vice-President and second President of India.

World Coconut Day is observed annually on 2 September. The day commemorates the establishment of the organisation that is today called the International Coconut Community (ICC) and seeks to increase awareness about the contribution of coconut cultivation and coconut-based industries to livelihoods and sustainable development. 

World Contraception Day is celebrated every year on September 26. It is a global awareness campaign.

World Lung Day is celebrated every year on September 25. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about lung health and respiratory diseases.

World Gorilla Day is celebrated every year on September 24. This day is dedicated to highlighting the importance of conserving gorillas and protecting their natural habitat.

International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on September 21. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the ideal of peace throughout the world and strengthen international cooperation to prevent violence, war, and conflict.

World Patient Safety Day is celebrated every year on September 17. Its primary objective is to promote healthcare safety worldwide.

World Ozone Day is celebrated every year on 16 September. Its purpose is to spread awareness among people about the depletion of the ozone layer.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tribute to Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya on the occasion of Engineer's Day.

National Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 14 September. The main objective of celebrating this day is to increase the importance of Hindi language, encourage its use and remember the efforts to establish it as the official language of the country.
