The second National Space Day celebrated on 23 August in India is especially in the news in 2025 as it marks the second anniversary of the historic success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The day was declared as National Space Day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the successful landing of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 lander on the surface of the Moon in 2023.

World Mosquito Day is celebrated every year on 20 August. Its objective is to spread awareness about diseases spread by mosquitoes and to encourage measures to prevent and control them.

The theme of World Humanitarian Day 2025 is "Strengthening global solidarity and empowering local communities"

This day is also an opportunity to honor those photographers who capture life, nature, culture and social reality through their cameras.

On August 14, Prime Minister Modi recalled the suffering and pain suffered by countless people during that saddest chapter of India's history on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. In the year 2021, the Government of India decided to celebrate this day on 14 August.

International Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 August. Its purpose is to focus on youth-related issues, challenges and opportunities around the world and to promote the active participation of youth in social, economic, political and environmental development.

Every year on 6th August, Hiroshima Day is observed to commemorate the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.
