Kerala Government established Senior Citizens Commission

Why in news?

Recently, Kerala became the first state in India to establish a Senior Citizens Commission.

About Kerala Senior Citizens Commission:

• It has been established under the Kerala State Senior Citizens Commission Act, 2025.
• It is a statutory body.
• The first commission of its kind in India, which focuses exclusively on the welfare of senior citizens.
• Acts as an advisory body in the state's elderly policy formulation.

• To promote inclusiveness and respect, so that the elderly can live a dignified life.
• To protect the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
• To ensure rehabilitation, protection and active participation of the elderly in society.
