Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the country’s first fully women-operated clean street food hub, “Mauli,” in Kandivli, near Mumbai.
This hub is entirely managed by women fromSelf-Help Groups (SHGs) and is run by women trained in food safety and hygiene under the FoSTaC program.
Promoting women empowerment and local industry
Highlighting the uniqueness of this initiative, Mr. Goyal stated that it provides women with a dignified means of livelihood while also strengthening the local industry.
This street food hub serves as an excellent example of women empowerment, food safety, and community development.
The minister expressed confidence that just as every household trusts the safety of their food containers, similarly, the residents of Mumbai will trust this hub.
Role of FSSAI
Mr. Goyal emphasized that with 405 certified centers and over 1.3 million vendors across the country, the role of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is extremely important.
This initiative contributes to promoting food safety standards and providing clean and safe street food.
