Why in the news?

The Border Security Force has launched Operation 'Sard Hawa' on the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan to further strengthen security in view of Republic Day.

- This campaign will run till January 29.
 
- During this time, vigilance will be increased on the border by BSF jawans and officers.
 
- Modern weapons and technical equipment will be used.
 
- Objective:
- Its main objective is to prevent any kind of infiltration and undesirable activities during the winter season.
 
- The BSF remains alert on the border throughout the year, but special vigilance is being maintained during this campaign.
 
 
- Surveillance and patrolling:
- The border area will be monitored 24 hours a day so that immediate action can be taken on any suspicious activity.
 
- Foot patrolling, patrolling with vehicles, and patrolling on camel rides have been increased.
 
- The use of camels helps in faster patrolling in desert areas.
 
 
- Additional security measures:
- Additional soldiers have been deployed in the border area.
 
- Surveillance of fencing has also been increased.
 
- Instructions have been given to immediately convey every information to higher authorities.
