12th edition of International Tourism Mart inaugurated at Kaziranga

Why in the news?

• Recently, the International Tourism Mart was inaugurated in Kaziranga, Assam.
• This is the 12th edition of the International Tourism Mart.
• It was inaugurated by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
• It is being organized from 26 to 29 November 2024.
• This year's mart includes a variety of activities -
  • Presentations by state governments, B2B meetings, employment, innovation,
  • Digitalization, youth entrepreneurship, Vocal for local, women empowerment etc.
• More than 30 countries are participating in it.

Kaziranga National Park

• Located- Assam
• Area- 42,996 hectares
• Year 1974 - Declared National Park
• Year 2007 - Declared Tiger Reserve
• Year 1985 - Declared UNESCO World Heritage Site
• Famous for- One Horned Rhinoceros
• Recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International.
• National Highway - NH-37 passes through
• River passes through - Diphulu
