Ambubachi fair is being organized in Maa Kamakhya Devi in 2025
Why in news?
Ambubachi Mela was held from 22 June to 26 June at the famous Kamakhya Devi temple located in Guwahati, Assam.
The temple of Maa Kamakhya Devi is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths.

Key points:
On 22 June, at the beginning of the fair, the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple were closed for 3 days.
This is believed to be the period of menstruation of the goddess.
During these three days, there is no puja or darshan in the temple. Devotees perform sadhna and japa by staying outside the temple.
This fair is considered especially important for tantric sadhna. Thousands of tantriks and sadhus and saints from the country and abroad come to attend this fair.
On the fourth day (on June 25) the doors of the temple were opened again and special prasad was distributed to the devotees after purification rituals.
It also includes the Rajaswala Vastra (a red cloth) of the goddess, which is considered very sacred.
Significance:
This fair symbolizes the menstruation (rajaswala) of Goddess Kamakhya.
It is believed that during this time the goddess menstruates on earth.
It is a celebration of womanhood, fertility and the power of nature.
