E-Samudra Digital Platform: Government Launches Single Digital Window for Maritime Governance

• The Government of India has launched E-Samudra, a comprehensive digital maritime platform aimed at modernising maritime governance and providing a single digital window for services related to seafarers, shipping companies, ports, and other maritime stakeholders. 
• The platform was inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during a national stakeholder interaction on seafarer security, safety, and welfare in Mumbai.

3. Digital Seafarers Employment Agreement (d-SEA) :-A fully digital employment agreement system for seafarers.

The Government also highlighted several welfare initiatives:

• Strengthening the Seafarers Welfare Fund Society. 
• Sagar Mein Yog initiative to promote physical and mental well-being. 
• Sagar Mein Samman initiative to encourage and support women seafarers. 
• Expanded digital grievance redressal mechanisms.

India's maritime workforce has witnessed significant growth.

The Government stated that India has become the world's second-largest supplier of seafarers and aims to become the largest in the coming years.

• Coordinating the safe repatriation of over 4,000 stranded Indian seafarers in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Navy, Indian missions abroad, shipowners and other stakeholders.
