National Esports Championship 2025

Why in News?

• The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has launched the National Esports Championship 2025 (NESC25).

Key Points:

• This championship will select India's official team for the 17th World Esports Championship (WEC).
  • It will be organized by the International Esports Federation (IESF).
• The ESFI has also finalized the Indian team for the upcoming BRICS Esports Championship 2025.
  • The championship will be held from May 28 to June 3 at the VK Play Arena in Moscow.

World Esports Championship (WEC 2025):

• It is a premier international Esports competition, organized by the International Esports Federation (IESF).
• This championship works to promote competitive gaming at the global level and bring players from different countries on one platform.

Esports Federation of India (ESFI)-

It is a global organization working to establish Esports as a recognized sport and promote its development.

Introduction to the Organization

• Founded: 8 August 2008 in collaboration with nine countries
• Headquarters: Busan, South Korea
• Current President: Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud (from October 2023)
• Member countries: More than 151 (by 2025)

Main Objectives

• Establish Esports as an organized and recognized sport globally
• Provide support and guidance to national Esports associations
• Organize the World Esports Championship (WEC)
• Develop global standards and rules for Esports
• Organize training programs for referees, managers and other professionals
